Caishiji Yangtze Moon-Reaching Walk
A 4.2 km cliff-edge loop from the park gate to Taibai Tower and out along the Yangtze ledge to Moon-Reaching Point.
“The great Peng flew, shaking the eight corners of the world; in mid-heaven its strength failed.”
Caishiji is a limestone headland standing directly over the Yangtze shipping channel, where the river bends and widens beyond reckoning. Li Bai came here broken, exiled and pardoned, and died in the county behind the cliff. Walk the ledge path at dusk: the water keeps moving at the same immense pace it did in 762, and the only thing that has stopped is the poet. The legend that he drowned here reaching for the moon is not really about death—it is about a refusal to stop wanting.

Chengdu Thatched Cottage Huanhua Walk
A 3.5 km flat loop linking the Thatched Cottage memorial halls, the reconstructed cottage and the Huanhua Brook wetlands.
“Could I but get ten thousand spacious mansions, to shelter all poor scholars under heaven and make them smile!”
This short loop threads the garden rebuilt on the site where Du Fu lived from 760 to 765. It is not a dramatic walk. Its power lies in its ordinariness: a bamboo grove, a reed channel, a stone tablet with a poem about a leaking roof. Walk it slowly and notice that the man who wrote the empire's most generous line about housing had just lost his own.

Cuiyunlang Ancient Cypress Post Road

“The Emerald Cloud Corridor stretches for a hundred miles with a hundred thousand trees.”
Walking beneath a two-thousand-year canopy of over eight thousand ancient imperial cypresses. Stepping onto Qin-Han flagstones grooved by ancient wagons, modern restlessness dissolves into millenary silence. This is a contemplative pilgrimage through living history, measuring civilizational resilience stride by stride.

West Lake Su Causeway Dawn Walk
A continuous 3.2 km motor-free historical causeway spanning six arched stone bridges from north to south across West Lake.
“With bamboo cane and straw sandals, lighter than a steed; Who fears? A life in misty rain leaves me untamed.”
Built during Su Shi's second tenure as prefect of Hangzhou in 1089 using lakebed silt from historic dredging. Walking this 2.8 km causeway at dawn cuts through the modern noise of digital burnout. Between the trembling willow branches and the silver mist rising from West Lake, you inhabit the poet's resilient state of mind—finding stillness not by fleeing storms, but by strolling lightly through them.

Wangchuan Valley Mindful Zen Trail
A tranquil 6.8 km mindful loop traversing Wang Wei's historical villa landscapes through pine hollows, bamboo groves, and ancient ginkgo groves.
“Walk to where the water ends; sit and watch the clouds arise.”
Set in the quiet foothills south of Xi'an where Wang Wei retreated in his later years. Walking this 6.8 km trail offers an intentional pause from digital noise. As you follow the babbling mountain brook through bamboo groves and ancient ginkgo canopies, you experience the timeless contemplative clarity of Tang Dynasty Chan Buddhism—learning that peace is not found by escaping the world, but by observing stillness within it.
