1. Current Status of Payments
At present the WalkingChina website is free to use and does not sell anything through a checkout. No payment is required to browse our guides, view routes, or download standard route information.
This policy exists because we may introduce paid digital products in the future. When and if we do, the terms below will apply, and we will state the price and any product-specific conditions clearly at the point of sale before you pay.
2. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to any paid products we offer, such as downloadable deep-dive route packs, digital guides, or similar digital content (together, "Digital Products"). It does not apply to third-party purchases you make on other websites, even if we link to them.
3. Pricing, Currency and Taxes
Prices will be displayed in the currency shown at checkout, normally US dollars. We may need to add applicable taxes or duties depending on your billing location, and these will be shown before you complete payment.
4. How Payments Are Processed
Payments will be handled by a reputable third-party payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card details; the processor handles your card information under its own security standards and terms.
5. Delivery of Digital Products
Digital Products are delivered electronically — normally via a secure download link or by email to the address you provide at checkout. Delivery is usually immediate. If you do not receive your download, contact us and we will resolve it.
6. Refund Policy
We want you to be satisfied with any Digital Product you buy. Subject to the exceptions in section 7, we offer the following refund commitment:
- •You may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase if the product was not as described, was faulty, or failed to download.
- •You may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase if you have not accessed or downloaded the digital content, and we will process it in good faith.
- •Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method; timing depends on your bank or card issuer.
7. Exceptions
Because Digital Products are delivered instantly and cannot be returned, we may decline a refund where the content has already been accessed or downloaded, except where the product is faulty or was not as described. Nothing in this section affects any non-waivable statutory right you may have.
8. Your Statutory Rights
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with mandatory consumer protections, you may have additional rights — including a statutory right of withdrawal for digital content. Where those rights apply, they prevail over this policy.
9. How to Request a Refund
Email us at [email protected] with your order reference, the product name, and the reason for your request. We aim to respond within 3 business days and to resolve eligible refunds promptly.
10. Billing Questions and Card Disputes
If you see a charge you do not recognise, or you are unhappy with a purchase, please contact us first at [email protected] before raising a dispute with your bank or card issuer. In the large majority of cases we can explain the charge or issue a refund directly, and much faster than a formal chargeback.
11. Cancellations and Subscriptions
We do not currently offer subscriptions. If we introduce a recurring plan, we will explain how to cancel before you subscribe, and cancellation terms will be shown at the point of sale.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Payment & Refund Policy. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date at the top of this page. The policy in force at the time of your purchase is the one that applies to that purchase.
13. Contact
